South County Regional Library Renovation and Expansion

RMF provided MEP design services for the renovation of the 33,500 SF existing Mecklenburg County Government South County Regional Library (17,073 SF first floor, 16,426 SF second floor), built in 1996.

The facility was renovated and reprogrammed for improved collections, service delivery, technology access, a more defined and reconfigured teen area as well as space allocated for new flexible children's space. The building shell remained, but the interior was renovated with new restrooms, conference rooms, group study spaces, quiet study rooms, flexible computing area, increased self-service options and improved workflow and storage in staff areas. There was also a desire to include a new drive-up book drop and improved parking flow.

I have appreciated all your work on South County - and that of your team. You all did a fantastic job despite it being a renovation, which we all know has its own sets of challenges. I could not be more pleased with the way it turned out!
