Stefan Domby offers a case study to Engineered Systems on RMF’s strategic efforts to modernize SUNY Stony Brook’s campus
The State University of New York (SUNY) is the largest comprehensive university system in the United States and RMF Engineering has had the fortune opportunity to work with its public colleges and universities for many years, resulting in a respected, long-lasting relationship.
Through a series of projects and upgrades, the firm’s engineering team has become intimate with the intricacies and nuances that make up these campuses. In the April issue of Engineered Systems, RMF’s Stefan Domby, senior project manager for the firm’s Baltimore Buildings division, offers an inside look into five major AHU and infrastructure replacement projects at SUNY Stony Brook that RMF has played an integral role in, past and present, to address their aging mechanical systems. Each project has required an innovative, highly customized approach to bringing their 40+ year old HVAC systems back up to speed, circumnavigating challenges such as tight mechanical spaces and other shortfalls with the existing structures that housed them and keeping the buildings fully functional and online during the upgrades.
