VIMS Chesapeake Bay Hall Spotlighted in Lab Design News
RMF Engineering is cited in Lab Design News for its role as the MEP engineer on the new Chesapeake Bay Hall at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS).
On April 10, 2025, William & Mary’s Batten School of Coastal & Marine Sciences and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) commemorated the opening of Chesapeake Bay Hall.
Featured in Lab Design News, Chesapeake Bay Hall is a landmark research facility at VIMS, designed to support groundbreaking work in coastal and marine science. The 68,240 square-foot, LEED Silver-certified building enables advanced research in aquatic health, fisheries science, and ecosystem resilience. It supplies four academic departments with state-of-the-art wet and dry labs, modular research spaces, and collaborative teaching environments.
RMF Engineering provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering services, integrating high-performance systems that meet the specialized needs of modern laboratories while supporting long-term energy efficiency and sustainability goals. April Ruggles of RMF is cited in the article for the firm's contributions to the project’s technically advanced design.
The facility was designed by Baskervill in partnership with Page and constructed by Kjellstrom and Lee.
