Rob joined RMF fulltime in 2005 in their Raleigh, North Carolina office after spending, as a student, 5 co-operative rotations with RMF. Rob grew up in the firm with early exposure to several different project types and engineering challenges. Early on, he began to develop a passion for commissioning services. “I quickly saw that expert commissioning could add tremendous value to the overall construction and operation of complex buildings that are critical to our clients core operations.” In the early development of Commissioning in the AEC industry, Rob began to formulate a vision of building on RMF’s long history of operations focused engineering design services into a team focused on commissioning critical projects. , What began as a team of three in 2004, has grown to a team of 15 professionals throughout the Southeast who have commissioned laboratory, healthcare, and critical services facilities throughout the US and in several other countries. Presently, Rob leads a growing Commissioning Team in Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia.
Rob’s personal drive and dedication is a key component to driving double digit growth for the firm year after year in their Commissioning Practice. “It is without a doubt without Rob’s effort, passion and ambition, the team would not have excelled to where it is today,” says Tim Griffin, RMF’s Executive Vice President. “I had the pleasure of watching his career develop from the beginning. His commitment to his clients and the success of their projects has been an inspiration to me.” Now, 15 years later, Rob is a Professional Engineer, LEED Accredited Professional and Accredited Qualified Commissioning Process Provider and is an active member of industry professional organizations including the North Carolina Healthcare Engineers Association (NCHEA) and American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Through these organizations he works to help influence the Commissioning industry as a whole.
Through his tenure in the A/E/C industry, Rob has had the pleasure of working for a vast set of both public and private clients including owners, architects and contractors within the healthcare, higher education, critical facility, and research and development markets. Rob’s tireless dedication to achieving his client’s goals, providing top-notch client service, innovative solutions, constant improvement regarding quality, approach and company standards has allowed him to develop long-standing relationships both nation-wide and world-wide. Rob and his team have been specifically sought after for various projects ranging from regional academic facilities, to U.S. State Department Embassies in Africa and the Middle East.
After growing up in Montana, Rob attended North Carolina State University and has since never left the City of Oaks. Rob is an avid “Wolf Pack” fan who graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a graduate of RMF’s Leadership Development University, a rigorous two year program designed to equip emerging leaders with the skills needed to lead any level of RMF. Rob enjoys presenting at industry conferences, tradeshows and exhibitions and enjoys mentoring those who are following in his footsteps. He has recently presented at industry events including the Cx Energy Conference and the National Conference on Building Commissioning.
